W/C 6th January 2026
Welcome back to the spring term! It has been so lovely to welcome the children back and hear all about their Christmas holidays!
We spent the week reminding ourselves of our 'yes please' expectations and focusing on the value of Service.
The garden area was looking a little worse for wear so we had a tidy up and planted the last of our bulbs ready for spring!

Please do click on the Curriculum Newsletter link to find out about the exciting learning that we have planned between now and Easter.
What a busy week we have had! In our maths learning, we have been recapping how to use 5 and 10 frames to represent different numbers.

We talked about the effects that winter is having on our environment. Then we used the sounds that we know to write a sentence about winter.

We have had a magical week exploring what happens when we mix colours together. We learnt that red, yellow and blue are primary colours and that we can mix them to create new secondary colours.
We made our own colour wheels to show the relationships between the primary colours.

Today, we had lots of fun painting our hands and rubbing them together to create a new colour!

We began the week by continuing with our colour learning. After the excitement of mixing primary colours last week, we explored how we can make colours lighter and darker. We learnt that adding white make colours lighter and this is called a tint. Adding black makes a colour darker and is called a shade. We chose a colour and decided whether to make it lighter or darker.

In our maths lessons, we have been learning to recognise triangles, circles, squares and rectangles. We played lots of matching and sorting games and used shapes to create pictures. Hopefully there will be lots of shapes for them to spot over the weekend.
