Rayner- Year 1

At Ashleigh, we believe every child deserves learning that feels exciting, purposeful, and personal. Our goal is simple: to help children fall in love with learning while building the skills they need to thrive in life.
To make this happen, we’ve extended our highly successful Early Years approach into Year 1. Children experience the full Year 1 curriculum within a rich, continuous provision environment, where learning is carefully tailored to meet individual needs. Alongside whole-class sessions, children work in small groups or one-to-one with adults, ensuring every child receives the right balance of support and challenge.
Independent tasks and enhanced provision encourage exploration and creativity, helping to develop the whole child. Through play, children build key academic skills while also learning how to manage friendships and social situations—laying strong foundations for confidence and resilience.
As the year progresses, particularly during the summer term, we gradually introduce more whole-class learning opportunities to support children’s transition into Year 2. This more traditional classroom approach helps develop independence, stamina, and listening skills, while still retaining the playful, inquisitive nature that motivates and engages our learners.
