June - Farook

W/C 1st June 2026

This week, we have been preparing for our multiplication tables check (MTC) and converting fractions between mixed number fractions and improper fraction.

In PDW, we have been exploring symbolism in the Pentecost story and discussing what each item could represent (like a battery).
In Writing we have been busy writing our brochures for Lynmouth, check out some of our front covers so far:

Before the weather turned a little wetter, the children bought the chalks out onto the playground and were so creative! Miss Verity was so impressed by how calm and respectful they were.

Our school were given a grant of £100 to stock up on some Christian literature in our library so we have been kindly gifted these from Eden Bookstore:

Mrs Francis will create a library in the reception for children and adults to enjoy as they wait. Watch this space!

In PDW, we have been exploring the "Body of Christ" and how Paul wrote to the church, comparing them to body parts to encourage them to work together as one body. Here we are exploring what it would be like if we only had two arms:

Oops! Things got a little wet...

We also had a go at spelling some key words for this verse with our bodies:

This week we finally finished our work on Pentecost in PDW, but not before we explored some roleplay that demonstrate different Fruits of the Spirit and which freeze frames show people only thinking of themselves.

To celebrate completing this unit, we all competed in a class KAHOOT! quiz. Here are some of the results:

To counter the weather, we've been trying to find ways to keep the children cool. Whether that is getting outside in the morning to aerate the classroom or cooling down with ice poles throughout the day.
Here we are Reading outside:

On Wednesday, Ms Jones took us down to plant some seeds:

Nothing beats an ice pole on a boiling hot day!

Here is a snippet of our independent research that we completed on Thursday afternoon:
