Evans - March

 W/B 02.03.26

At school, we have had a lovely week so far. We have played volleyball - a lot! And learnt lots of new skills. Lego has also been a huge hit, and they have created some beautiful pieces of artwork. They're enjoying playing games and being in their own comfy clothes. They've been a joy!

Without them the Big Book Swap would not have been as much of a success. From organising, checking and categorising books, counting and delivering tickets to supporting younger children in the school to choose a new book - they did it all! We started the day with the Year 5/6 Reading Quiz of the year - the children were challenged to answer questions about all of the different books we have studied this year. Then it was time for the book exchange to open. It was wonderful to welcome children from across the school in to be excited about books. Well done team! Please keep an eye on the curriculum page for a full gallery of our Book Day celebrations coming soon.

This week, our Year 5 children enjoyed a wonderful visit to Silver Hill as part of our ongoing links with the centre. The children worked alongside the centre’s clients to create colourful pom poms and other spring‑themed art pieces, filling the room with creativity, conversation, and plenty of smiles.

Throughout the session, the children truly lived out our school value of Service. They took great care to chat with the clients, share ideas, and offer a helping hand whenever needed. It was lovely to see them bringing spring joy to members of our wider community through their enthusiasm and kindness.

We are incredibly proud of the thoughtful way Year 5 represented our school and look forward to future collaboration with Silver Hill.
