Learning to Love; Loving to Learn - Life in all its Fullness

This week has been full of moments that remind us what a special community we have. We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils, who have shown such resilience, determination and maturity throughout SATs week. We are always proud of them, but it has been particularly heart‑warming to see them work towards a goal they set for themselves, approaching each day with calm focus and supporting one another along the way. The qualities they have shown speak volumes about the bright and exciting futures ahead of them, and we cannot wait to see how they continue to flourish as we move through the rest of the summer term.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to the rest of the school for the respect and consideration they have shown. By helping to keep a quiet, calm atmosphere, they made a real difference in allowing Year 6 to complete their assessments confidently and without disruption — a wonderful example of our school family looking out for one another.

Alongside all of this hard work, it has been lovely to enjoy some simple seasonal pleasures. The slightly brighter weather has meant children have been able to enjoy their lunches as picnics on the field, making the most of the fresh air and sunshine as spring slowly turns towards summer. These shared moments of laughter and friendship have brought a real sense of warmth to the week.

In Collective Worship, the children have enjoyed exploring the story of Pentecost, reflecting on its messages of courage, hope and togetherness. We are very much looking forward to our upcoming Pentecost church service, which will be our final service of the academic year. If you have not already secured a ticket, please do so soon, as it promises to be a meaningful and special occasion for our whole community.

There is also plenty of excitement building as we look ahead to next week - our final week before the May half term - with the visit from the Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) charity plane giving us something extra special to look forward to.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for being such an important part of our school community.

Warm regards,

The Ashleigh School Team

Collective Worship this week...

This week, we explored the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14–30), reflecting on how each of us has unique gifts that can make a difference.

We discussed how using our strengths—whether kindness, creativity, teamwork, or perseverance—helps our whole school community to grow and flourish.

Just like in the story, when we use what we have been given, good things multiply; when we hide our gifts, others miss out on the support and joy we could bring.

We also thought about how our school becomes a happier, more inclusive place when everyone contributes and feels valued.

Talk at home:

  • What are your strengths or special talents?
  • How can you use them to help someone this week?
  • Why is it important to share our gifts?

Together, we can build a caring and joyful community where everyone thrives.

STARS THIS WEEK

Here are the children who have been shining by showing our church value of ASPIRATION this week ...

Aspiration

In everything he did, he had great

success because the Lord

was with him

Ash 2: IVO

This week, Ivo is the recipient of our star award. He has impressed us all with his positive attitude and determination to improve his learning.

Rayner: KAYLA

This week I am awarding my star to Kayla for the aspiration she has shown in all aspects of the curriculum. I have been particularly impressed with her writing and maths. Well done Kayla and keep it up!

Percival: JOFAIN

Percival's star this week is awarded to Jofain. We have seen such aspirational behaviours this week, particularly in his English writing. Well done Jofain and keep pushing yourself so you can be the best that you can be!

Duffy: JACOB

Jacob has taken inspiration from his peers and has applied some of these new found skills to his own learning. He has recognised some things he finds challenging and has asked for help. Well done Jacob.

Farook: ALANA and ABIGAIL

Alana, daily, I am so impressed by your positive attitude to your learning. Each lesson, you give your all and show such a commitment to your education. I couldn't ask for more!

Abigail, your care and dedication to your work absolutely shines out of every piece of work you complete. I am so excited to see how you will continue to flourish!

Evans: ARCHIE

Archie has been incredible throughout the SATs process this week. One of the most improved children in his learning - ever! He used his meta-cognitive talk all the way through and really applied everything he has been taught to the papers. We are so proud of him and know he will be such a success at secondary. Remember how amazing you are Archie!

Shakespeare: DANI

I am so proud of all of our year 6 children this week. But Dani really stood out to me. I knew she was nervous, but nobody can question the dedication and motivation she has had this year to succeed. There were some very tricky questions throughout, but she stayed calm, confident and attacked them in the best way she knew how. Really proud of you Dani - I told you, you absolutely CAN do Maths!
