October - Carle
W/C 28th September 2026
This week in Carle we have continued to learn about Cave Baby. We have created our very own cave art by using tea bags to dye the paper, drawing around our hand, and decorating it with leaves that we found outside. We also wrote instructions on how we created these pieces of art and are very impressed with how they turned out.

We have very much enjoyed water play this week and have used the paint brushes to mark make on the walls.

This week's tuff trays have been based around emotions, fine motor skills and maths where we have come together as a group to complete tasks and work as a team.

This week in Carle we have been reading a book called The Sea Saw, the children have been thinking about different emotions and how the different characters would have felt throughout the story.

We have done this using a range of different tuff trays and resources such as puppets, mood boards and mark making with glitter.

In line with our story we designed our own lost posters, we drew a teddy bear, gave them a name and wrote a description of what they look like.

In maths we have been focussing on one more and one less, which we have enjoyed as we have been able to incorporate conkers into this and talk about Autumn too.

Construction had been the pick of the week this week and we have used our new wooden construction blocks to make a range of different things, following instructions and working together as a team.

To begin our learning we made some conker spiders in Forest school, we chose the coloured legs that we wanted and used googly eyes. They looked amazing and we did a great job.

This week we are reading 'Billy and the Beast', we have had lots of fun learning about the characters and we were even able to write our own recipe for 'Terrible Soup' which we then made and left out for the Beast to eat! And he did... he even left us a note thanking us for our kindness.

We have been using our tuff trays to form numbers with play dough, use our fine motor skills and paint some beautiful Autumnal pictures.
