Personal Development and Worldviews

Personal Development & Worldviews (PDW)

“Learning to love; loving to learn – life in all its fullness.”

At our school, this vision sits at the heart of everything we do. It guides not only how we learn about the world, but how we grow as people. That’s why our Religious Education and wider personal development curriculum now work together under one meaningful umbrella: Personal Development and Worldviews (PDW).

PDW celebrates the idea that every person—child and adult—has a worldview: a way of making sense of life, belonging, purpose, and the bigger questions we encounter. These worldviews may be shaped by religion, culture, family, experiences, values, or a combination of many influences. Understanding this helps our children grow in respect, curiosity, and confidence.

Our approach to spirituality is rooted in relationships:

  • with ourselves – knowing who we are and what matters to us
  • with others – valuing each person and their unique viewpoint
  • with the world – noticing beauty, responsibility, and our place within it
  • and beyond – exploring beliefs, meaning, and the wonder of life

Because spirituality is relational, PDW is not just about looking outward to learn about other people’s beliefs and cultures. It is also deeply relevant to each child’s own identity, values, and sense of belonging. PDW helps children understand how they relate to the world around them and how they can contribute to it with compassion, curiosity, and courage.

By bringing RE and personal development together, we give children a richer, more connected understanding of themselves and others—helping them truly live out our vision of “Life in all its Fullness.”
