September - Jha

W/C 7th September 2026

Welcome back to the new school year!

This Week in Year 2, the children have worked incredibly hard across all areas of the curriculum. In English, they have been practising correct letter formation and have begun our new writing unit based on The Great Fire of London. The children enjoyed exploring this historical event in Year 1 and will use this knowledge to develop their writing skills around the topic. In Maths, we have practised number formation and started our unit on Counting to 100, focusing on recognising, reading and ordering numbers, as well as building confidence with place value. As part of our Personal Development and Wellbeing (PDW) learning, we introduced the unit 'Who is Muslim and how do they live?'. The children discussed the meaning of the word Muslim and shared their existing knowledge and questions about the topic. In Art, the children began learning about the artist Henri Rousseau. They created a fact file to discover more about his life, artistic style and some of his most famous works. We are very proud of the children's enthusiasm and effort this week and look forward to another exciting week of learning ahead!

W/C 21st September

This week Jha have continued to focus on Henri Rousseau in Art, written in past tense used commas in a list and used the conjunction 'and' to list two nouns in writing.  We have discussed Queen Elizabeth I and II ready to begin our first History topic.
Our school value this half term is 'Respect' and we have been working on showing respect when listening to others and not talking over somebody when they are speaking.
