Welcome Back – Final Half Term!

We would like to warmly welcome everyone back for the final half term of the school year. We hope you all had a wonderful break and were able to enjoy the glorious sunshine while it lasted! In true British weather style, it hasn’t hung around for long, and we have since been treated to plenty of rainfall.

Unfortunately, the change in weather meant that the Year 6 rounders event scheduled for Wednesday had to be cancelled. We know how much the children were looking forward to this, but Mr Day is already planning ways to make up for it with alternative events in the near future.

Talking of events, our Year 3 pupils from Percival, Farook, and Duffy classes are eagerly anticipating their visit to Pilton Community College next Tuesday, where they will have the opportunity to practise and develop their cricket skills. We look forward to hearing all about their experiences.

Across the school, there is a real sense of focus and determination as pupils prepare for upcoming assessments. Our Year 4 children are working hard to practise their multiplication facts and improve their typing skills ahead of their multiplication check next week. Meanwhile, Year 1 have been busy identifying their “special friends” as they read both real and nonsense words, preparing well for their phonics screening check with Mrs Welch.

Looking ahead, our Year 5 and 6 pupils are very excited about their upcoming trip to the Fleet Air Museum next week. If you haven’t already signed up, please remember to do so via the Arbor app. Should you need any assistance, the school office or the Year 5/6 team will be happy to help.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to a happy, productive, and memorable final half term!

Warm regards,

The School Team

Collective Worship this week...

This week in Collective Worship, we reflected on Jesus’ teaching about forgiveness in The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant (Matthew 18:21–22), where he tells us to forgive “seventy times seven”.

Children explored this through role-play, acting out disagreements between friends and how they can be resolved. We discussed how holding onto anger can affect us, while forgiveness brings peace and helps repair relationships.

The twelve targets within SDG 16 strive towards a long lasting ...

We also linked our learning to SDG 16, recognising that peaceful communities are built through kind and forgiving choices. Forgiveness supports our school values by helping us to learn to love, love to learn, and experience life in all its fullness, free from the weight of anger.

You might like to continue this conversation at home by asking: How do you find peace?

STARS THIS WEEK

Here are the children who have been shining by showing our church value of FORGIVENESS this week ...

Forgiveness

Love prospers when

fault is forgiven but

dwelling on it separates

close friends

Ash 2: COOPER

Cooper has really stood out this week due to his ability to move on quickly after a disagreement. He shows great problem-solving skills, helping everyone find a solution so they can happily continue playing and learning together

Rayner: ISABELLE

Isabelle has shown a very mature approach to forgiveness this week when she had to forgive a small unkind act. She was able to forgive and forget which can be very hard to do!

Percival: KAYSON

Whenever someone does something wrong Kayson is there with a kind smile and an open heart. If the wrong is done to him he forgives quickly and never holds a grudge

Duffy: HARVEY

Harvey is always quick to apologise when he needs to and is very quick to accept apologies from others.

Farook: AKSHAT and JESSA

It has been lovely to see how well you have both tried to show grace and forgiveness to your friends during times of disagreement. This is a really difficult value to work on and it's wonderful to see it develop in you.

Evans: LOGAN

Logan always shows forgiveness in his interactions with peers and adults. He is a super role model and example for others to follow.

Shakespeare: DREW

Drew is my star this week. He shows great maturity and also knows how to problem solve and help others if there is any conflict. He is a true leader and role model to all.

Prefects: ARI

This week our star goes to Ari; he's changed a lot and has been very respectful towards his peers.
