Learning to Love; Loving to Learn - Life in all its Fullness

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the Appledore Book Festival this week, with some fantastic author visits. KS2 were left in "stitches" listening to Guy Bass share stories from his childhood, including some of the cheeky things he got up to, such as drawing on the walls, and how these experiences helped inspire him to become an author. His repeated question, "But WHY?", had many of us laughing out loud!

Today, KS1 were delighted to welcome John Dougherty, who entertained the children with some wonderful poems from his book Zooming at the Zoo.

Wednesday's Harvest Celebration was a truly joyful occasion. Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness in supporting our collection. We are looking forward to sharing your donations with the Freedom Centre and helping those in our local community. If you weren't able to join us in person, please visit our Church Services page here: Ashleigh CofE Primary School - Church Services

Meanwhile, teachers and support staff have been busy making the final preparations for the launch of our Big Brush Club on Monday. The children have been eagerly awaiting its arrival, and we are excited to make this positive addition to our daily routines.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We hope you have a lovely weekend!

Warm regards,
The School Team

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

Here is what we've been learning about this week in Collective Worship ...

This week, we explored the important theme of equality during Collective Worship. Children shared their ideas about what equality means and discussed how fairness, justice and respect can help create a world where everyone feels valued.

Through thoughtful discussions and reflection, pupils considered how treating others fairly and celebrating our differences can make both our school and the wider world a better place. We were impressed by their mature ideas about rights, opportunities and how each of us can help make a positive difference.

Talk together

What does equality look like in our world? Talk about how people around the world live different lives and have different opportunities. Why is it important that everyone is treated with fairness, respect and kindness, no matter who they are or where they come from?

Reflect

Think about the people who may not have the same opportunities as you. How might it feel if you were treated unfairly or excluded? What could happen if everyone in the world was valued equally and given the chance to thrive?

Try this week

Look for ways to help make the world a fairer place. You could learn about another culture, stand up for someone who is being treated unfairly, include a younger sibling in your game,

listen carefully to a family member, or show appreciation for someone who helps you. Even small actions can make a big difference.

STARS THIS WEEK

Here are the children who have been shining by showing our church value of RESPECT this week ...

Respect

Show respect to everyone,

love other believers, and

honour authority

Ash 2: AARON

Aaron consistently demonstrates outstanding respect towards everyone in our school community.
He is polite, considerate and always remembers his good manners, setting a wonderful
example for those around him. We are very proud of the mature and respectful

Rayner: SHIFA

Congratulations to Shifa for being our Star of the Week! Shifa has consistently shown excellent respect towards
everyone and everything in our classroom. She is kind and considerate towards her friends, listens carefully
to others, and takes pride in looking after our learning environment and resources.
Well done, Shifa, for being such a wonderful role model for respect!

Jha: (Phonics Group): CLEO

Cleo is my Star of the Week for the consistent respect she shows every morning.
You are a joy to have in my phonics group, and your positive attitude shines every day.
Thank you for being such a wonderful role model!

Duffy: WILLOW

This week's star award goes to Willow the impeccable respect she always shows.
She actively listens and follows instructions. She is just all round wonderful young lady.

Farook: RUONA

You are outstanding in everything that you say or do. It has been incredible watching
you amongst the Year 4s and seeing how not only are you learning from them,
you're also setting an example for others. Thank you!

Evans: DARCEY T.

Darcey is my star this week. Quite frankly I don't think the Harvest Service would have happened
without her. Not only did she star in it, but also acted as a very intuitive assistant,
undertaking all her duties quietly and respectfully. Thank you Darcey!

Shakespeare: JOSH H.

Josh is Shakespeare's star this week. He is always respectful while bringing a gentle humour to the class
and it was wonderful to see him shine as part of the Ethos team this week. Well done Josh.

Prefects: CHLOE L.

The prefects have chosen Chloe L this week. Chloe impressed the prefect team
this week by showing respect for the presenters in Harvest and overcoming her nerves to read
a final prayer.
