Learning to Love; Loving to Learn - Life in all its Fullness

Respect

Compassion

Forgiveness

Dear Parents and Carers,

And just like that, another week back at school is complete!

We know that settling back into routines can take a little time for everyone, whether that's school mornings, after-school clubs, or fitting everything back into busy family life. That said, we are incredibly proud of how well our children have settled into the new school year. They have shown fantastic attitudes to learning, high standards in their handwriting and presentation, and have been moving around the school with the respect and consideration that makes Ashleigh such a special place to be.

Thank you for registering | Childrens Hospice South West

On Thursday, we were delighted to welcome Buddy from Children's Hospice South West. The visit certainly created lots of excitement, and the children have been buzzing ever since about the upcoming Final Mile Fun Run!

Final Mile is a fantastic half-marathon challenge where children run 12 miles with their classmates at school over a period of time. They are then invited to complete their final mile at Rock Park as part of RUN Barnstaple on Sunday 27th September. If you haven't already, do take a look at the promotional video, which even features some of our Ashleigh pupils from last year!

I hope you've had the opportunity to explore our school website and visit some of the different pages. In particular, our new Attendance Page contains useful information and videos that help explain why good attendance is so important for children's learning and wellbeing.

This week, I have also had the pleasure of speaking with some of our wonderful children about how school and families can work together to support excellent attendance, including arriving on time each day. Their ideas have been thoughtful and creative, and I am looking forward to sharing some of them with our wider school community in the coming weeks.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Together, we can ensure our children have every opportunity to thrive, learn and enjoy their time at Ashleigh.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Warm regards,
The School Team

Collective Worship this week...

This week, we explored our school value of Respect, linked to the British Value of Mutual Respect. We discussed what respect looks like in our daily lives, who we should respect, and how our words and actions can affect others. Through the story of The Lion and the Mouse, children learned that everyone deserves respect and that respect is earned through kindness, honesty and consideration for others.

By showing respect, we help one another flourish and live out our vision of Learning to Love, Loving to Learn, Life in All Its Fullness.

Questions for families:

  • Who do you respect and why?
  • How can we show respect at home, school and in our community?
  • How do you feel when someone treats you with respect?
  • What is one way you could earn someone's respect this week?

Family Challenge:
Look out for acts of respect this week and celebrate them together!

STARS THIS WEEK

Here are the children who have been shining by showing our church value of RESPECT this week ...

Respect

Show respect to everyone,

love other believers, and

honour authority

Carle: CHASE

Chase has settled well into well into our new routine here in Carle, he has listened well to instruction often asking if we need help to tidy up and has supported a younger student that has joined Carle this term.

Ash 2: IRIS

Iris has settled into life at Ashleigh beautifully and sets a wonderful example of how you can show respect in different ways throughout the day. Well done, Iris.

Rayner: COOPER

Cooper has blown me away this week with the support, kindness and respect he has shown his maths learning partner. He is an excellent role model for his peers. Thank you Cooper.

Jha: MALACHI

Malachi has shown respect by trusting and respecting adults enough to talk to them and allow them to support him and he has shown respect for himself by expressing when things are tricky in a mature way.

Duffy: SCARLETT

Scarlett has really impressed us this week with how quickly she has settled into the new routines of not only one but two teachers! She is always one of first to be sat down on task and showing respect to both her peers and adults in the class. Well done!

Farook: OLIVIA-GRACE

What an absolute delight it has been to have you in my class this year! You have absolutely shone with not only respect but all of the school values. I cannot wait to see what you continue to do this year.

Evans: HERMIONE

Hermione has made the most incredible start to year 5, showing fabulous learning behaviours and adapting to new routines. Well done Hermione, its been wonderful to see you shine!

Shakespeare: KARTER

Karter is my star this week because he has blown me away with his learning behaviours, his attitude and the presentation in his books. Karter even said he is really proud of himself for the challenges he has accomplished this week and is incredibly mature and reflective when he needs to improve. We love having you in Shakespeare, Karter!

Prefects: THEA

We would love to give Thea our star this week because she has been so polite when she arrives to school and is showing real improvement.
