Learning to Love; Loving to Learn - Life in all its Fullness

Respect

Forgiveness

On Monday, we were delighted to welcome representatives from our local library, who visited to promote the Summer Reading Challenge: Book Quest. The children were inspired to hear about the challenge and the many other wonderful activities available at the library over the summer holidays. We hope lots of our families will take the opportunity to get involved and enjoy a summer filled with reading adventures.

A huge thank you to all the families who attended our Parents' Evenings this week. It was such a pleasure to celebrate your wonderful children and the fantastic progress they have made throughout the year. We hope you enjoyed sharing in their successes and achievements. We certainly couldn't be prouder of them! These are still going on next week too for Percival and Shakespeare so I look forward to hearing all about it. Thank you, too, for your continued support and partnership - it makes such a difference.

We also hope that many of you had the opportunity to meet members of the team from Little Butterflies, our new afterschool club for children aged 3–11. They were pleased to introduce themselves and share information about the provision. Please take a look at the poster below for further details.

Some of our Year 5 children represented the school at a cricket competition this week. Despite the hot weather, they demonstrated fantastic teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day. As always, they represented our school beautifully, and we are incredibly proud of them.

Meanwhile, some of our talented children have been exploring their creativity through fruit-inspired artwork. Their imaginative creations look absolutely fantastic—what a brilliant way to combine art, colour and healthy foods! We are sure you will agree that their work is very impressive.

Finally, a quick reminder that, due to the recent weather conditions, Mr Day has kindly rearranged Sports Day for this Monday. We are very grateful for your flexibility and understanding as we navigate the challenges of a busy summer term alongside the unpredictable British weather!

We are looking forward to an exciting day, beginning with EYFS and KS1 events from 9:30am–11:00am, before coming back together for our KS2 Sports Day at 1:00pm. Parents and carers are warmly invited to join us and cheer the children on.

With warm temperatures forecast, please remember to help your child stay sun safe by ensuring they come to school with a sun hat, a named water bottle and sunscreen already applied before the school day begins.

We look forward to seeing many of you there and hope you have a lovely weekend.

Warm regards,

The School Team

Collective Worship this week...

This week, we explored the Christian idea of reconciliation – repairing what is broken and helping relationships to heal.

Using the Bible verse 2 Corinthians 5:18, we learned that God calls us to be people who bring peace and reconciliation to others. We also rebuilt a jigsaw puzzle together, reminding us that when friendships or relationships are damaged, they can often be put back together with care, patience and love.

Through our discussions, the children identified some important "tools" for reconciliation, including:

  • Listening carefully to others
  • Being honest
  • Saying sorry when we have made mistakes
  • Showing forgiveness
  • Trying to understand how someone else feels

The children reflected on how peace-making can strengthen families, schools and communities. They considered how restoring friendships helps everyone feel valued, supported and ready to learn together. We also reflected on 2 Corinthians 5:17, which reminds us that through God, there is always the opportunity for a fresh start.

Talk Together
  • When is it difficult to make peace with someone?
  • Why can saying "I'm sorry" sometimes be hard?
  • How does it feel when a friendship or relationship is mended?
  • What qualities help people become good peacemakers?

Try this week

Choose one peace-building action to practise as a family this week:

  • Listen without interrupting when someone is speaking.
  • Say thank you for something a family member has done.
  • Apologise if you have made a mistake.
  • Help settle a disagreement calmly and fairly.
  • Show kindness to someone who may be feeling left out.

STARS THIS WEEK

Here are the children who have been shining by showing our church value of FORGIVENESS this week ...

Forgiveness

Love prospers when

fault is forgiven but

dwelling on it separates

close friends

Ash 2: JUVANITTA

Juvanitta has really impressed us this week with the way she handles disputes calmly and positively. She is quick to put problems behind her and works thoughtfully with others to find solutions, helping everyone get back to enjoying their play and learning together.

Rayner: ZION

Zion is our star this week for showing great forgiveness towards himself. He has been working hard to manage his frustrations and is becoming more resilient when his learning does not go as well as he had hoped. We are very proud of the positive attitude and perseverance he is showing.

Percival: JOEY

Joey is our star of the week in Percival. He is an incredibly compassionate and always has a positive attitude. Joey is a great listener and this enables him to be a wonderful forgiving friend! Well done Joey!

Duffy: NIRAV, MERSON and SAMAIRA

I would like to celebrate three stars this week: Nirav, Merson and Samaira.  Although they were involved in a challenging situation this week, they showed great maturity, kindness and forgiveness.  They were able to move forward positively without any fuss, demonstrating excellent character and resilience.  Well don to all three of them!

Farook: CHARLOTTE

For the care and compassion and understanding you have for others. It is just wonderful the way that you scoop people up and help them out, demonstrating true friendship.

Evans: IZADORA

Izzy is our star in Year 5 this week. She conducts herself with thoughtful kindness and is a great role model and a real asset to the Year 5 team.

Shakespeare: AMY

Amy is such a forgiving person. She's so much fun, full of energy, works incredibly hard and is an all round joy to be with. Amy - you're a star!
